Inspired & The 4th

I'm so inspired by the great job Renee does with her blog that I'm going to do one. My writing in the beginning will not be so creative and exciting as I'd like, but hopefully with practice my children will enjoy this when they read it years from now.

So today being the 5th of July, we supposedly saw fireworks last night. We drove to the spot we discovered last year, just a block from our house, but not a good walk as there is no sidewalk and fast traffic. We drove the "trurango" as Luci puts it and set up camp. A big blanket, folding chairs (for big people and little people), 2-star shaped pieces of cake decorated with blue and red m&ms, strawberries, popcorn, water bottle, baby bottle, bug spray, recently purchased straw cowboy hat for Ken, etc. The girls immediately were hoisted to the top of the trurango for a great show, then almost as quickly wanted down. We waited and waited and waited. Then Grace had to pee. Luckily she doesn't mind a cornfield abode, even when her sister is announcing to the entire night sky that Grace is peeing in the corn (and to the lady at the store the next day). Back to enjoying the night and anticipation of fireworks. After the long wait, and with heads hung low, we packed up. Unfortunately, we finally found out they were canceled because the Mayor decided the town had not enough funds. Big bummer. I thing the parents were more upset about the fireworks than the kids, although Luci threw a nice tired-child fit when we decided to leave. And of course we forgot the camera, we had the video though, so please cross reference that next time you see us!!
